UVRF COVID-19 Protocols

These guidelines are based on and meet (or exceed) the following:

  1. NH State guidelines regarding Amateur & Youth Sports - (https://www.covidguidance.nh.gov/sites/g/files/ehbemt381/files/inline-documents/2020-05/guidance-amateur-youth-sports.pdf) and Health & Fitness Centers (https://www.covidguidance.nh.gov/sites/g/files/ehbemt381/files/inline-documents/2020-05/guidance-health-fitness.pdf)
  2. US Rowing’s COVID protocols and guidelines (https://usrowing.org/sports/2020/3/4/usrowing-coronavirus-information-and-updates.aspx), specifically the USRowing Re-opening the Boathouse/Return to Training (https://usrowing.org/documents/2021/2/16//USRowing_Reopen_Boathouse_Document_v9_0.pdf?id=2502

These guidelines will be reviewed and updated periodically. These guidelines apply even if a person is fully vaccinated and apply to all athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers and anyone else who is permitted to be with the team during practice or an event.

General Considerations

  1. In general, at all in-person practices and events, coaches, athletes, volunteers, parents, must adhere to COVID protocols including wearing a mask and social distancing.
  2. Only athletes, coaches and volunteers may be present during practice.
  3. Training/Practice will focus on “get in, train, get out” approach minimizing unnecessary contact.
  4. Every athlete, coach and volunteer must fill out the UVRF COVID Questionnaire prior to practice and affirm the answers at the start of practice. Please do not come to practice if you have been exposed to COVID, are feeling sick, or have traveled in the past 14 days or otherwise answer “yes” to any of the questions.
  5. If you answer “yes” to any of the COVID questions, you may not return to practice until (a) you are symptom free and have a note from your health care provider as set out in the questionnaire; and/or (b) if it was due to travel or exposure you have followed the quarantine guidelines in the questionnaire. A “yes” answer will pop up the appropriate instructions to follow before returning to practice.
  6. Athletes/coaches/volunteers travelling outside of New England must quarantine for 10 days before returning to practice. EXCEPTION:  If it has been 14 days since you received your 2nd COVID-19 vaccine, you do not need to quarantine after traveling but you still must follow all other COVID-19 guidelines.
  7. Any athlete or coach who receives a positive COVID test result must inform the head coach (Carin Reynolds - or (603) 276-9250).
  8. In the case of a positive test the club will contact trace for close-contact individuals and notify those individuals that they have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  9. Close contact individuals should contact their doctor and not attend practice or a club function until they have been cleared to resume training or any club activity.
  10. Coachees, staff, volunteers should not transport any athletes that are not immediate family members. In the event that transportation becomes necessary due to an emergency situation, all parties must wear cloth face coverings and space out seating to maintain maximal distance from each other.

75 Bank Street Gym - Indoor and Outdoor Land Training:

If for any reason a family is not comfortable with in-person erg practices under the following protocols, an erg will be provided for home use and the athlete can participate via Zoom.

  • The facility is the gymnasium at the former Lebanon Junior High School at 75 Bank Street in Lebanon. It is approximately 100 feet by 50 feet, with tall gymnasium ceilings.
  • Locker rooms will not be available. Please bring your own water bottle to practice and do not share with others.
  • Whenever possible, leave personal items at home or in your vehicle.
  • A coach will be designated daily to be the “Safety Officer” responsible for making sure these guidelines are adhered to, including administering the temperature checks and verifying the COVID questionnaire answers. This person will be identified by a neon yellow/orange vest.
  • Per US Rowing guidelines, ergs will be spaced 12 feet apart and will be staggered so no one is in anyone else’s “slipstream.”
  • The restrooms will be cleaned before and after practice.
  • Fans will NOT be used during practice.
  • Whenever possible doors and windows will be open during practice.

What to bring to practice:

  • A mask! Or two! Bandanas and any face covering that hangs open will not be allowed.
  • Your own water bottle, filled.
  • Be dressed to exercise - indoors and out
  • Personal size hand sanitizer

Upon Arrival:

  • Mask on (properly! Covering mouth AND nose!) at all times from the moment you get to practice until after you have left.
  • Find the Safety Office (in the neon vest) at the side door entrance
    • You must confirm there have been no changes since you filled out the UVRF COVID Questionnaire earlier in the day.
    • Your temperature will be taken using a forehead thermometer - if your temperature exceeds 100.4 degrees you will be sent home.
    • You must use hand sanitizer (provided) prior to entering the building.
    • Outdoor practice group - go down to the playing field and meet the coach
    • Indoor practice group - take the disinfectant wipes (provided), go pick out an erg and wipe down the handle, seat and monitor prior to use.
    • As much as possible, refrain from touching common areas/spots (light switches, hand railings)
    • Disinfect ergs (handle, monitor, seat, rail) again at the end of your indoor practice session.
    • EXIT through the door at the BACK of the gym (do not use the entrance door). Hand sanitizer will be available there as well.

At all times:

  • Social Distance! At all times you must maintain a minimum of 6 feet separation from others.
  • Keep your mask on! Over your nose!
  • If you use the bathroom, wash your hands or use hand sanitizer after.
