New this year, we will offer a program that combines sweep and sculling in fours, quads and eights for people who have some sweep or sculling experience. Coached by Ala Crockett, this program meets twice a week from 6:30 to 8 am. It combines fitness, technique and camaraderie and will begin next Tuesday, June 22. Membership in UVRF is required along with an up-to-date swim test and full covid vaccination.
Four two-week clinics will welcome Juniors and U23s to develop their sculling skills this summer. Coached by Linda Muri and Ala Crockett, the clinics are open to people with at least some sweep or sculling experience at the club or collegiate level. Practices will be held three times a week from 8:30 to 10 am in singles, doubles and quads. Membership in UVRF is required along with an up-to-date swim test and full covid vaccination for those wishing to row in doubles or quads. For questions on eligibilty, please reach out via email:
UVRF has a number of Vespoli and Peinert racing singles and an assortment of recreational singles for members to use, starting in June. You can pay a seasonal equipment usage fee and choose from a pool of racing and recreational singles. This option allows you to use certain club doubles as well. Alternatively you can do a monthly or seasonal rental of one boat and one set of oars. Members who have been certified also have access to premium doubles and quads. For more information, visit the Sculling/Boat Rentals page of our website!
UVRF has 50 outdoor racks available at Kendal Riverfront Park for owners of private singles and doubles in 2021. To qualify, you must be a member of UVRF and register on the website. Once you have registered, you will receive a rack assignment. The cost of a rack rental is $250.
Are you new to rowing or have you been away from it for a while? Learn how to get the most out of your Indoor Rowing Machine in this hour-long video from coach Linda Muri. You will learn how to sit properly on your erg and position your feet for maximum comfort. The complete rowing stroke from the catch, through the drive to the finish, and through the recovery back to the catch is shown along with proper (and improper) body positions along the way. An overview of the Concept 2 performance meter is also given for those who want to keep track of their workouts and learn how to coach themselves to better form.
Board meetings are open to all members of UVRF. They are held on the first Monday of every month, starting at 5:45pm. During the pandemic, board meetings are held using zoom. The next scheduled meetings are:
